I’ve come to believe over my 32 years in helping people recover their health, that the healthy microbiome is the 2nd most influential aspect of your health. The scope of the influence is tremendous in that there are more microbiotic bacterial cells in you than the number of cells in your body. 10 times more by some estimates.
The microbiome is made up of all the symbiotic bacteria and microbes that live on you and in you. They are everywhere, your skin, in your nose, mouth, eyes, GI tract, vagina… everywhere. The makeup of the organisms, good or bad, is determined by what you are feeding them. If you eat crummy food, you get crummy food microbiome, that requires more crummy food to survive. They will signal your brain to go buy more crummy food…. And you will dutifully obey.
Not only does the microbiome (if healthy) protect you from pathogenic bacteria and viruses, the bacterial species in your body signal your nervous system and influences your behavior. I’m talking whether you are happy or depressed. Whether you are fit or fat. Healthy or sick.
If a baby is exposed to antibiotics, the chances of future asthma, eczema, allergies, obesity, depression, bipolar disorder, diabetes and heart disease….all go up. Those diseases aren’t prevalent now for no reason. They are happening because a couple of generations feared fevers in their children so terribly, the parents all got fancy in ear digital thermometers so they knew exactly when to run to the pediatrician because it was “serious”. After all, nobody would just willy nilly give their child antibiotics when they don’t “need them”. Well, here we are today with 40% of teenagers with at least one chronic disease. It can be turned around though.
Not just for kids. If you know people with C diff infections (usually hospital acquired) or cellulitis on the legs… the same thing is true.
The workshop is 6:15pm on Tuesday the 17th will give you the understanding to repair and rebuild your microbiome. Much like a bad lawn needs fertilizer and reseeding yearly ( or more if you live in Woodbury), your microbiome may need similar care. We’ll show you what that looks like.
Not only the repair but the tools to evaluate your microbiome and maintain it.
