It's not often that we are able to quantify and measure health benefits, but I've been able to measure an improvement in my health and my 5 month old son's.
Due to unknown circumstance, my body has been unable to produce enough breastmilk to wholly support my son. We'd been supplementing with formula at about a 50/50 ratio. After being involved in a rear end collsion and undergoing regular chiropractic adjustments for my neck and upper back, I had an unexpected additional benefit to the decrease in pain from my whiplash injury... my breastmilk production increased by apprximately 15%! I know this because my son does not nurse from me at all. I use an electric breast pump and put the milk in a bottle for him. Every drop of this "liquid gold" is measured and accounted for.
My son also underwent his first chirpactic adjustment. He had developed a routine of having a bowel movement sometimes every other day. Since his adjustment, he's had at least 2 everyday. Although the increase in diaper changing isn't enjoyable, I know his digestion must be working better. Added nutrition from the increase in breastmilk combined with his digestive system working better means he is getting additional health benefits.
